I got my degree in Biology at University of Santiago Compostela in 2006. In 2008 I joined the Psychiatric Genetics group at the " Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria de Santiago de Compostela (IDIS") and "Fundación Pública Galega de Medicina Xenómica". In 2010, I got the Master degree working on the identification of rare variants at the neurodevelopmental gene DISC1 related to Schizophrenia. Following this study, I started my research as a PhD student, focusing on detection of rare variants associated with schizophrenia risk at several genes previously related with the disease. I am using Next Generation Sequencing to this goal. At the same time, I jointed the DNA Bank Platform of CIBERSAM (Spanish Mental Health Research Network) in 2010. Since then, I manage, process, and store DNA samples of controls and cases of mental diseases (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, delayed mental, autism spectrum disorders, etc.) from different CIBERSAM groups. Since 2014, I am also working at CEGEN (National Genotyping Center) in Santiago de Compostela, being part of Affymetrix platform, processing samples by high-throughput genotyping.
