PABLO JÁCOME

I graduated in Biology from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2019. The same year, I joined the research group to carry out my Degree’s final project entitled “Analysis of the genetic correlation between neuroticism and alcohol dependence,” which was my gateway into the world of complex disease genetics. In 2020, I completed a Master's in Genomics and Genetics offered by the University of Santiago de Compostela and the University of Vigo, during which I developed my Master's final work entitled “The role of the placenta in genetic susceptibility to schizophrenia according to the omnigenic model,” related to the topic that would later become the focus of my doctoral thesis. In 2021, I completed the Master's in Secondary Education Teaching, because I also have an interest in education. That same year, I began my doctoral thesis, supervised by Dr. Javier Costas. In 2022, I was hired by the Primary Care Addiction Research Network. In 2023, I was granted a predoctoral scholarship by the Xunta de Galicia. The topic of my thesis focuses on investigating the role of the placenta in genetic susceptibility to various psychiatric disorders, resulting in the publication of my first article as author, entitled “Exploring the causal effect of placental physiology in susceptibility to mental and addictive disorders: a Mendelian randomization study.” Simultaneously, between 2022 and 2024, I pursued the Master's in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics from the Open University of Catalonia and the University of Barcelona.
